Comedian Al Madrigal back on the road with launch in Madison
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Al Madrigal is back in Madison performing at Comedy on State this March.
Madrigal has made a name for himself in stand-up comedy, acting and as a writer.
You may have seen him as a “Daily Show” correspondent, and a guest on “The Tonight Show”, “Jimmy Kimmel Live”, and “Conan”.
His first special “Why is the Rabbit Crying?” on Comedy Central quickly rose to the top of the charts and he went on to numerous TV roles including appearances on Bobs Burgers, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and the film Night School alongside Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish.
This will be the first time since before the pandemic that Madrigal is back on the road performing standup.
“It’s my favorite comedy club, easily,” he replied when asked why Madison was the first stop back. “All comedians agree that this is one of the best places so you need to check this out. You are so lucky to have this club.”
Madrigal said audiences can expect a wide range of topics from his upcoming stand-up.
“There’s a lot to talk about, it would be ridiculous for me not to talk about the current state of Latinos in the United States, it would be ridiculous for me not to talk about what’s going on in this country right now which is insane,” Madrigal said.
“I don’t really do crowd work, I want to do bits I want to go out there and really show people what I got,” he laughed. “It’s a little bit of a chip on my shoulder to go out and regain what I lost in all those years...show folks how good I am at that.”
Madrigal has two nights of shows, Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15.
