Come Say 'Hello' to the Cast and Characters of 'The Parenting'

It's a comedy-horror, kinda like real life!

preview for Lisa Kudrow, The Parenting - Official Trailer (HBO Max)

The new Max original movie The Parenting drops on March 13, and in case you weren't aware, the cast is absolutely stacked with several Hollywood heavyweights along with a few faces you might not be as familiar with. The comedy-horror film focuses on the parents of boyfriends Josh and Rohan coming together for a weekend getaway to get to know each other. Oh, and they're staying at a house that, unbeknownst to them, is haunted by a 400-year-old demon. Yikes!

Here are the cast and characters you can expect to see popping up on your screen in The Parenting.

Brandon Flynn as Josh

Josh is gearing up for a weekend away in a vacation rental with both his parents and his boyfriend Rohan's parents, and he's realllly desperate to make a good impression. That might be a touch difficult considering the house is, like, extremely haunted, but I guess it's worth a shot!?

Brandon Flynn is a 31-year-old actor from Miami best known for his role as Justin Foley in 13 Reasons Why. He's also been in other hit shows like True Detective and Ratched.

Nik Dodani as Rohan

Rohan is planning to propose to Josh, and he's the neurotic, perfectionist, needs-everything-to-go-as-planned type, so he'll have total control over every minute of this weekend to make sure the proposal goes off without a hitch, right? Well, not if the 400-year-old demon has anything to say about it.

Nik Dodani is a Texas-born actor who you might recognize from his role as Zahis in Atypical—my personal favorite of his. He's no stranger to the horror genre, having had a role in Escape Room. And fun fact: he made his TV debut on his The Parenting co-star Lisa Kudrow's show The Comeback.

Parker Posey as Brenda

The eccentric Brenda is the manager of the rental home and she's the kind of person where you never really know what her next move is going to be. And if you can look past the fact she's renting out a hella haunted house, you can really appreciate the kooky wig collection she sports.

Chances are you're watching Parker Posey crush it in The White Lotus season 3 right now, but her decades-long career is even more impressive. She's been in movies like Best in Show and You've Got Mail, and TV series like The Staircase and Lost in Space.

Vivian Bang as Sarah

Sarah is Josh and Rohan's best friend who may or may not have invited herself on the weekend getaway. The good news is she's exactly the kind of friend who you'd want to have by your side while fighting off literal demons—she's supportive but will always tell it to you like it is.

Born in South Korea and moved to San Francisco at 7 years old, Vivian Bang has landed roles in a number of big productions like Always Be My Maybe and 2008's Yes Man.

Lisa Kudrow as Lisa

Lisa is Josh's mom. She pulls up to the vacation house with her husband, Cliff, and three dogs in tow (amazingly introduced as Frick, Frack and F*ck if I Know). She loves to drop a colorful word or two here and there but will be quick to remind you that's not really how she talks (sure, Jan).

Lisa Kudrow hardly needs any introduction, and even though she's universally known for her role over 20 years ago as Pheobe Buffay on Friends, she's been crushing it lately career-wise, having just starred in Netflix's No Good Deed.

Dean Norris as Cliff

Cliff, Josh's dad, is the Mr. Fixit type—although he's kinda ham-handed at times. He isn't exactly diplomatic and will say exactly what he's thinking with no filter, but one thing's for sure: he loves and supports his son.

Another seasoned veteran, Dean Norris is probably best known for his role as Hank Schrader on the series Breaking Bad. He's also been in Terminator 2, Little Miss Sunshine, Evan Almighty and The Book of Henry.

Brian Cox as Gerald

Rohan's father might initially seem like a well-to-do, buttoned-up man, but you'll soon find he doesn't mind, ahem, baring it all just to let everyone know who's boss.

Another heavyweight name on the cast, Brian Cox is known for his work on stage and screen and has been nominated for award after award. If you're a fan of Succession, you know him as the cutthroat Logan Roy, but the Scottish actor has been in so many other major productions like Braveheart, Troy, Churchill, Fraser and Deadwood.

Edie Falco as Dorothy

Rohan's mom rolls up to the haunted vacation house in her nice car with her perfect blowout and pretty quickly, she doesn't seem to be having a great time. Little does she know, things are about to get much, much worse.

Edie Falco is a born New Yorker with decades of acting accolades racked up for TV, film, and Broadway. She played mob wife Carmela Soprano on The Sopranos, was the titular role in Nurse Jackie, and was nominated for a Tony for her performance in the play The House of Blue Leaves.
