The Wilkersons are back.
Frankie Muniz and company will descend on Vancouver next month as the city will provide the backdrop for a new season of Malcolm in the Middle.
The iconic "life isn't fair" early-to-mid-2000s sitcom is getting a four-episode mini-series, as announced by Disney Branded Television last December, and will be streamed on Disney+ when finished.
Most of the original dysfunctional-family cast is joining Muniz nearly 20 years after the show's last season.
This includes Jane Kaczmarek reprising her role as Lois, Justin Berfield as Reese, and, of course, two-time Golden Globe and six-time Emmy Award-winner Bryan Cranston as Hal.
Malcolm in the Middle will begin shooting April 13 at Vancouver Film Studios at 3500 Cornett Rd, according to Creative BC's latest local production list.
Filming is expected to run until May 15.
The show debuted in 2000, and ran for seven seasons and 151 episodes until 2006. It's cancellation due to a decline in viewership was widely speculated.
The upcoming revival is set to follow Malcolm's return, alongside his daughter, to his childhood home to celebrate his parents' 40th wedding anniversary.
Ken Kwapis (The Office) is set to direct at the Vancouver set with executive producers Gail Berman, Linwood Boomer, Tracy Katsky-Boomer and Jimmy Simmons.
What else is filming in Metro Vancouver?
Creative BC has listed other notable television projects ongoing or starting soon in and around Metro Vancouver.
Tracker
Tracker is nearly finished its latest filming stint in Metro Vancouver for season two.
Justin Hartley (This Is Us, Smallville) stars as survivalist Colter Shaw. While living in an RV, he travels across the U.S. to help solve crimes and find missing people.
He's been seen in character around Metro Vancouver. The show may wrap up by April 2.
Tracker can be seen on CTV in Canada, as well as on Crave and Disney+.
Resident Alien
The fourth season of this revitalized out-of-this-world comedy series is tentatively scheduled to wrap up filming on March 31.
Resident Alien follows Harry Vanderspeigle, played by generational actor Alan Tudyk (A Knight's Tale, Firefly, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story).
The alien crash-lands on Earth and takes the identity of a small-town doctor, but has a secret mission and is tested when he develops a newfound compassion for humanity.
The Chicken Sisters
This family affair is anything but civil. The Chicken Sisters, set to film its second season, follows feuding families in the fried chicken restaurant business that tests the loyalty of a small town.
Can a longstanding rift be resolved without anyone chickening out?
The Hallmark series stars Lea Thompson (Back to the Future, Switched at Birth), Wendie Malick (Hot in Cleveland, Just Shoot Me!), Schuyler Fisk (The Best of Me, Orange County) and Genevieve Angelson (The Handmaid's Tale, House of Lies).
