It's going to be a rockin' Wilmington weekend, with live music, St. Pat's stuff, and more

Welcome to the weekly Port City Life newsletter brought to you by me, StarNews cultural issues reporter John Staton.
As always, tons to cover this weekend, but before we get into it I wanted to let you know about a trio of musical events I recently found out about.
First off, Wilmington rockers Lawn Enforcement of Suck Rock Records will be having an album release show for their new record, "Lamb," at Wrightsville Beach spot Jimmy's on Friday night, March 14. I've had the band's grungily melodic new single, "All To Me," on repeat.
Wilmington hard rock act Nervous Systems plays new Cargo District spot The Tapyard on Friday evening, and another new Cargo District venue on Wrightsville Avenue, Rift, celebrates with four bands, including the Dram Fam Jam Band, starting around 1 p.m. Saturday.
Weekend weather outlook
Should be mostly decent weather this weekend, if a little changeable. Things will start on the cool side Friday with highs just in the mid-60s before rising into the lower-to-mid 70s for what could be a nice spring Saturday. Good chance of rain and thunderstorms Sunday with highs near 70.
Go | See | Do
St. Patrick's Day falls on a Monday this year, but you'll be seeing a whole lot of green on the streets of Wilmington all weekend long, including at the 24th annual Wilmington St. Patrick's Day Parade 11 a.m. Saturday.
Other events this weekend include MoB Theatre's multi-event "Scotopia" play festival at Dreams and at Thalian Hall; singing legends The Righteous Brothers at the CFCC Wilson Center on Friday; and the UNCW Intercultural Festival on Saturday.

Getting to know Wilsons
Many Wilmington old-timers will remember shopping at Wilsons, which at its peak had some 20 stores in Southeastern North Carolina and Northeastern South Carolina. We take a look back at the rise of the local chain, and at how its name still has a high profile in Wilmington.
News you can use
Wilmington's arts community is mourning the loss of Hiroshi Sueyoshi, a native of Japan who was a master sculptor and ceramicist, and who taught his craft to thousands of people during his nearly 50 years in Wilmington.
Plus, two Wilmington-based nurses try to advance on CBS reality show "The Amazing Race," and a Wilmington store offers hats made by the Kentucky Derby's top designer.
